Philips Heartstart HS1 (Kids)

The HeartStart HS1 Pads Cartridge is for use on children. This refers to children aged 1 - 8 years and weighing less than 25 kg. When the pediatric pads are connected to the AED, the shock level is automatically reduced. The positioning of the electrodes is indicated on both the cassette and the electrodes.

Shelf life of the HS1 electrodes for children

The shelf life of the pediatric electrodes for the Philips HeartStart HS1 AED is approximately 2 years. Electrodes have an expiration date associated with the conductive gel. This can dry out over time. Using electrodes past their expiration date may have adverse consequences for the patient. Therefore, always make sure that you keep an unopened cassette of pediatric pads with the AED. You can find the expiration date on the front of the cassette, or on the sticker on the foil pouch around the electrode cassette.
